A trio of promotions at Work Psychology Group

To say that 2020 has been a challenging year is perhaps an understatement.  But that’s been particularly true in the world of organisational psychology – where we focus on how people behave at work, and the psychological, organisational and environmental factors that impact that behaviour.

At Work Psychology Group (WPG) we have been busy supporting clients through the crisis and helping them to find fair ways to continue with high stakes recruitment and assessment.  We have a fantastic team of psychologists with a range of skills and specialisms.  And we’re delighted to announce a trio of promotions.

Emma Morley has been promoted from Senior Consultant to Associate Director at Work Psychology Group.

Emma has been a vital part of the WPG team for eight years She has her contributed across the business, including bringing a strong focus on design, delivery and evaluation of selection methods in medicine.  Emma spent a successful 10 months in WPG’s office in Australia in 2016. More recently, Emma also won an Association for Business Psychology (ABP) Award for Excellence in Using Psychology for Social Impact in 2019.

In her new role, Emma will work more closely with founders Professor Fiona Patterson and Dr Maire Kerrin on supporting the agility and adaptability of the business.  This is always a priority for WPG, but the challenges of 2020 have made it more so.  Emma will also be responsible for maintaining a strategic oversight of projects across our portfolio.

Sam Sheridan has been promoted from Consultant Psychologist to Senior Consultant.

Sam leads our internal quality assurance processes and many projects across medical selection SJTs. He is our go-to guy for psychometric statistical problems.  He has been recognised several times at our Christmas awards for courage (one of our values) and customer service within his work.

As part of his new role, Sam will be using his strengths to support our operations functions internally.  He will continue to lead key projects across our selection and engagement portfolios to support our continuous improvement objectives.

Our third promotion is for Jordan Buxton – now a Consultant Psychologist.

Jordan joined us as a Psychologist in January of 2020.  After onboarding during the pandemic and learning the ropes virtually, Jordan’s promotion earns her the title of fastest promotion to this role in WPG history!

As a strong member of the research and development team, Jordan has thoroughly enjoyed her work investigating the use of simulations within recruitment and assessment to better understand their value to a selection process. This work is vital in maintaining WPG’s status as thought leaders within selection and recruitment.

Jordan’s new role will enable her to further her knowledge in recruitment and assessment whilst taking on project lead responsibilities and working closely with clients across the lifecycle of a project.

Dr Maire Kerrin, founding partner of WPG, said: “Congratulations to Emma, Sam and Jordan on their promotions.  This recognition is a well-deserved reflection of their hard work. We’ve been really proud of how the whole WPG team has responded to the challenges of 2020 and found ways to support clients – old and new – as they navigate the organisational psychology implications of the pandemic.
