Consultant Psychologist Role

This is an excellent opportunity to continue to develop your skills and competence as a Consultant Psychologist in a successful research-led consulting environment. The successful applicant will have gained experience in the relevant fields since graduating from an MSc degree in Occupational Psychology and will have particular interest and experience in the areas of selection and assessment. Key activities of the role will include:

  • Supporting Directors and Senior Consultants in business development by writing project proposals, scoping deliverables and proposing workable solutions in partnership with clients
  • Managing the day-to-day implementation of projects
  • Developing and maintaining effective client relationships
  • Contributing to large, complex and high stakes assignments
  • Designing and evaluating bespoke psychometric assessment tools
  • Designing and implementing bespoke assessment solutions, including job analyses and assessment centres
  • Designing bespoke innovative development solutions including development centres and training programmes
  • Undertaking evaluation of organisational processes, including selection processes and large scale talent management programmes
  • Undertaking analysis using both quantitative and qualitative techniques
  • Writing reports and executive summaries to reach a range of audiences
  • Dissemination of work through client conferences, presentations and publications

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience of working in a relevant consultancy or internal role
  • Registered or seeking registration as a Chartered Occupational Psychologist / HCPC
  • Educated to Masters level in Occupational Psychology (or equivalent)
  • A qualified Psychometric Test User in Occupational Ability and Personality Testing
  • Experience in using a range of statistical packages (including SPSS)
  • Desirable: Experience in assessment and selection

Who will succeed in this role?

To succeed in the Consultant Psychologist role you must be able to:

  • Work flexibly and co-operatively with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders to achieve objectives
  • Work independently at pace, show initiative and transfer learning from one setting into others
  • Balance multiple priorities, plan ahead and re-prioritise work plans according to colleague and client needs
  • Work with attention to detail, both in terms of listening to instructions and picking up errors/double checking work etc.
  • Use SPSS proficiently with the motivation to develop technical competence in this area
  • Work competently with Excel (including creating graphs), PowerPoint and Word (including formatting documents and creating tables in reports)
  • Ask questions with a desire and motivation to learn
  • Quickly build positive relationships with team members to achieve the successful completion of contracted work
  • Deliver work effectively and efficiently from a business viewpoint (taking costs, timescales, quality and reputation into account)
  • Communicate effectively to clients both verbally and in writing

The role will be based in our Derby office. Some UK-travel should be expected in line with client requirements, with future flexibility to work from home up to two days a week.
